Adopt a Bird First and foremost, NEVER purchase an animal, any animal, from a store.  There are thousands of birds available right now who desperately need homes, like Kelly, below (available from Wings of Hope).  If you're interested in adopting a bird, please check with your local animal shelter or visit www.Petfinder.org to find beautiful birds who need a home. Please note - be sure to carefully research any so-called "sanctuary."  Some places call themselves sanctuaries but actually support breeders and pet stores.  Although it is always better to adopt a bird than buy one, please be careful! For example, The Gabriel Foundation supports breeding, and the Bailey Foundation and Arcadia Bird Sanctuary support Bird Paradise.  Please avoid these.
